Woodacre Homes & Real Estate

Browse today's new Woodacre homes for sale plus more properties in Marin County below! Woodacre is a small, unincorporated town that's almost entirely surrounded by state parks and protected nature preserves. Recent population statistics only have about 1,400 people living in Woodacre, which is actually more than most buyers might expect if they've never been to the area or are just passing through. Woodacre's "downtown" lies along San Geronimo Valley Drive, which is where those touring the area will find a post office, a small market and deli, and not a whole lot else. But for someone who loves to get outside and stay active, living just minutes from so many area parks and nature preserves is a real treat if lucky enough to find a home, cottage, or ranch that fits all the needs and wants as a Marin County home buyer. Woodacre Real Estate Market

Most of the homes in Woodacre are single-family dwellings, and the architecture reflects the individuality of the residents. From unpretentious A-frames nestled in the wooded hillside, to custom designed showplaces with all the amenities, Woodacre has something for everyone. In Woodacre most homes are placed on beautifully wooded lots. The maze of roads, many ending in cul-de-sacs, lends a secluded feeling to the community, despite the fact it is just off the main thoroughfare of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The commute to most areas in Marin is short, and Woodacre is only half an hour from the Golden GateBridge.

The Woodacre real estate market is pretty typical for rural Marin County. Older single-family dwellings and a fairly broad mix of small cottages tend to be what's most common throughout the Woodacre community, and the area's densely forested landscape also provides plenty of privacy and seclusion too. And with most Woodacre homes for sale only being about a 15- to 20-minute drive into San Rafael, it's also a not a bad place to begin a home search for anyone who commutes into the county seat on a daily basis either.

Woodacre Community Amenities

If homebuyers need to decompress after the stress of the everyday world, Woodacre has the ultimate answers with the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Dedicated to the teachings of Buddha, Spirit Rock offers retreats and workshops in meditation and mindfulness. Perhaps Spirit Rock's most notable visitor was the Dalai Lama, who attended a conference there in 2000.

West on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, there is the laid back quiet of the San Geronimo Valley. The first town buyers will encounter as they head west is Woodacre. Not much happens in the town of Woodacre, which is exactly how the locals like it. Just up the Hill you'll find the Gary Giacomini Open Space Preserve and down the road is Roy's Redwoods. When fair weather brings hiking crowds to Mt. Tam, you'll find peace, solitude and dramatic views right in the backyard.
