Timber Cove Real Estate

Timber Cove is a Sonoma Coast hideaway located about 14 miles north of Jenner.  A local landmark, familiar to travelers along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, is Bufano's Obelisk, a 93-foot spire resembling a totem pole that towers over the bluffs adjacent to the Timber Cove Inn.  Once the site of prosperous fur-trading and timber industries, the Timber Cove / Fort Ross area was settled by Russian fur traders in the early 1800s; and their influence can still be seen in some of the architecture of the area, including the historic buildings in Fort Ross.

Today, Timber Cove is a popular spot for residents and visitors who enjoy the recreational opportunities provided by nearby parks.  Hiking and horseback riding trails as well as fishing, SCUBA diving, picnicking, and tide pooling are all just a couple of miles up the road from Timber Cove in Salt Point State Park.  To the south, the Sonoma Coast State Beach has scenic hiking trails; and the Russian River, which opens to the sea in Jenner, offers canoeing and kayaking.  For the less athletically inclined, wine tasting is always an option at the Fort Ross Vineyard and Winery, which is only a few short miles away.

Many of the homes in Timber Cove are on the bluffs at the ocean's edge and are beautiful estates with spectacular views.  As many of the seafront homes are custom built, there is no one predominant style, but most are elegantly contemporary.  In the hills on the eastern edge of Timber Cove, homes are surrounded by redwood forests and have a more rustic feel.

Like so many coastal communities nearby, there isn’t a whole lot to Timber Cove outside of a few scenic parks and protected nature preserves, but there is a local campground and boat landing spot here, as well as the famous Timber Cove Resort, which has long been considered one of the top romantic getaway spots in this part of the state.
