Surrounded by the gently rolling hills and vineyards of the Napa Valley, St. Helena is a cosmopolitan town that epitomizes the casual wine country vibe.  Famous for its hospitality, award winning wineries, and exciting dining opportunities, St. Helena may be a small town, but it offers lots to do.  Main Street, in downtown St. Helena, is full of charming, one-of-a-kind shops and eateries; while just a block or so away grocery stores, banks, and the amenities that are necessary for the practical needs of life make St. Helena a full service city.  Foodies will appreciate the Michelin rated Restaurant at Meadowood and the culinary seminars and tastings at the Culinary Institute.  For the more outdoor oriented visitors and residents, St. Helena is close to hiking and biking trails, golf, and swimming.

St. Helena is a tourist destination, but it is also a wonderful place to call home.  Homes in St. Helena are an eclectic mix of style and era, from early 1900s wood-clad bungalows, cottages, and Victorians to Mid-century ranches, lovely suburban style homes on tree lined streets, and extravagant custom homes designed by some of the Bay Area's most distinguished architects.

St Helena Homes for Sale

The first thing you might notice about the city of St. Helena is that it lives much larger than a small town with a population of only about 6,000 people. Self-described as “Napa County’s Main Street,” downtown St. Helena is a lively, energetic place that’s full of fun, culture, and a shopping, dining, and entertainment scene that rivals just about any small city in the Bay Area. Luxury hotels, boutique wineries, trendy restaurants and bars, and all sorts of high-end shopping make St. Helena a top tourist destination in wine country, and trust us when we say you’ll be hard-pressed to leave after just one quick visit.

St. Helena Real Estate

Most homes for sale in St. Helena are as charming and desirable as the city’s quaint downtown, but the further and further away you get from the city center, the higher home prices tend to get for any active property you see actively listed on the market. In fact, St. Helena homes for sale that are situated out on the outskirts of town are commonly newly built houses that still have an authentic farmhouse look and feel, which blends in perfectly with the rolling hills and acres and acres of vineyards that dominate the area’s sensational mountainous landscape. These and other luxury estates with a St. Helena address can often get pricey, though, sometimes reaching $10—, $20—, or even $30 million in some rare instances. Not every house on the St. Helena real estate market will break the bank, but even lesser expensive options tend to still start over $1 million in this particular part of Napa County.

Amenities & Attractions in St. Helena

While downtown St. Helena is loaded with shopping, dining, and cultural attractions of all sorts, that really only tells part of the story when it comes to local amenities and attractions in town. As a thriving tourist destination that's situated right in the heart of the Napa Valley wine region, nearly 20 wineries and vineyards lie within striking distance once calling St. Helena home. In addition, Lake Hennessey and the Napa County Regional Park District also sit just outside of downtown St. Helena, which acts as Napa’s largest reservoir and easily one of the best places in all of Napa County for fishing and boating. No swimming is allowed there, however, so keep that in mind before you stop by.
