Sherwood Forest Real Estate

Sherwood Forest is a small, quiet neighborhood of about 200 homes on the southwestern slope of Mount Davidson in San Francisco's District 4 (Twin Peaks West). Surrounded on three sides by tony San Francisco neighborhoods (Miraloma ParkWestwood HighlandsMonterey Heights, and St. Francis Wood), homes in Sherwood Forest, like those of its neighbors, are set on peaceful meandering streets - far removed from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city.

Although Sherwood Forest feels tucked away in its own little corner of San Francisco, the amenities of everyday city life aren't far away. West Portal is handy for everyday needs and has a Muni/Metro station that connects the western portion of San Francisco with the Financial District and Downtown.  Two trailheads leading into Mount Davidson Park begin along Dalewood Way on Sherwood Forest's northern boundary, putting hiking, jogging, and communing with nature just a short stroll away.

Homes in Sherwood Forest have the best of all worlds. With the forested slopes of Mount Davidson in the background, many homes have panoramic views westward that are unhampered by underground utility lines. Development of Sherwood Forest began in the early 1930s. Timothy Pflueger, an influential San Francisco architect designed two of the earliest homes in the neighborhood, including one very fashionable Streamline Moderne home.  Other architectural styles are well represented, including low-slung ranch style, sleek modernist, and classic Mediterranean.
