Real estate in Pittsburg, CA is a mixed bag, but in general is much more affordable than many other East Bay locations. Small bungalows and ranch-style homes can be found near the downtown area. Several newer communities are being developed in the rolling foothills to the south of the Pittsburg city center. Valencia and Veranda at San Marco are two new, master-planned communities with larger Mediterranean-style homes, and slightly larger price tags. Even so, homes in Pittsburg, California are some of the most affordable in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Thanks in large part to its artsy vibe and unique culture, Pittsburg is trending upward and is among one of the faster growing cities you'll find in the East Bay. Adding to its appeal is its close proximity to the waterfront, Highway 4, and Interstate 680, which makes getting to and from just about anywhere in the East Bay quick and easy on most days. The Pittsburg real estate market is diverse, although single-family homes generally dominate what's listed on the MLS, much like any other suburban community out in these parts. Many Pittsburg homes for sale are quite reasonable from a pricing standpoint, rarely exceeding $700,000, even for a newly-built home or something that offers over 2,500 square feet of living space. Furthermore, even most smaller houses and cottages in Pittsburg start as low as the mid-300's, offering potential buyers a wide range of options and opportunities that fit just about any budget.
Although Pittsburg, California is described as one of Contra Costa County's industrial cities, it's also a place that's rich in history and culture as well. Located along the south shore of Suisun Bay, the first thing many visitors to Pittsburg notice is all the beautiful artwork that's on display all over town. From uniquely-designed sculptures and water fountains to vibrant wall murals and monuments, public art displays have been part of Pittsburg's fabric since the early 1970's. As for what else you'll find here, downtown Pittsburg, or Old Town as it's commonly referred to, is filled with restaurants, shops, and even a few small community parks, and the Pittsburg Marina and the Pittsburgh Yacht Club both help make it a top destination for area home buyers who love spending time out on the water.
Pittsburg is a water sportsman’s delight. Its position on the Delta, with excellent access to both the San Francisco Bay and the Delta’s 1000 miles of navigable waterways, attracts fishermen and sailors alike. The municipal marina is home to the Pittsburg Yacht Club, and offers covered berths, a public launch ramp, and jogging/biking paths.
Next to the marina, Old Town Pittsburg is in the process of revitalization. New retail shops and restaurants are opening, and in the summertime the Farmers Market is a gathering spot for Pittsburg residents and visitors. In September, the annual Seafood Festival is a fun family event and features arts and crafts, live entertainment and, of course, fabulous seafood.
