Gorgeous home in a friendly neighborhood in South American Canyon. Enjoy the brand-new kitchen that looks out into the spacious backyard, or private master suite with upgraded master bath. Invite...

The Napa Valley is the heart and soul of Napa County and is one of the most beautiful places in California, similar in many ways to Tuscany. The Napa Valley has the distinction of having been named the first American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California.  Its temperate Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm, dry summers helps make the Napa Valley a great place for growing grapes; and this pleasant climate, along with Napa's joie de vivre makes Napa County a great place to live.

The gateway to the Napa Valley is American Canyon, a modern, family friendly city at the southern tip of Napa County.  Just north of American Canyon is the city of Napa, which is the county seat and business hub of Napa County.  Continuing on along the St. Helena Highway (Highway 29), Yountville and St. Helena are two small cities full of old-world charm.  At the northern end of the Napa Valley is Calistoga, well known for its waters and its wines.

Off the beaten path, on the eastern edge of Napa County is a more rural environment, where residents and visitors can enjoy the great outdoors without sacrificing the pleasures of living in the wine country.  Angwin is a small mountain community located on the edge of Las Posadas State Forest, just a few miles northeast of St. Helena.  A few more miles to the east is Lake Berryessa, a recreational area surrounded by miles of ranchlands and a few small housing areas.

Although touring Napa's wineries, which are strung out along two main wine trails - Highway 29 and the Silverado Trail - is one of the area's most popular activities, it is by no means the only thing to do in Napa.  Culinary adventures, art events, and festivals take place throughout the year.  Hot air balloon rides and spas, sightseeing and shopping, hiking and biking, golf and tennis, and dining - both casual and fine - are all a part of what makes Napa so special.

Real estate in Napa County is varied and precious.  In many areas strict regulations protecting the agricultural heritage of the county have kept residential development modest.  Many structures, including homes and cottages, bear testament to times gone by and are on the list of historic sites in Napa County.  From Queen Anne mansions in Napa, to charming Victorian cottages in Calistoga and classic Italianate Victorians in St. Helena, architecture in Napa County has a history of distinction.  Today, in addition to the classical homes of yesteryear, homes in Napa County range from new single-family homes in planned neighborhoods to modest, mid-century dwellings, or extravagant custom-designed properties in the countryside.

Whether you are looking for a single-family home in a family friendly neighborhood, a condominium that is conveniently located for work or commuting, or a stunning estate set in some of California's most famous countryside, Napa County is a great place to begin your house hunting.
