Mount Davidson Manor Real Estate
Tucked in between Balboa Terrace and Westwood Park, with Monterey Boulevard to the north and Ocean Avenue to the south, Mount Davidson Manor is a western San Francisco neighborhood that offers a San Francisco personality combined with suburban appeal. Developed in the early 1900s, after the opening of the Twin Peaks tunnel in 1918 made commuting to downtown San Francisco simple and direct, Mount Davidson Manor is a bit more subdued than its neighbors to the north, Monterey Heights and St. Francis Wood; but it is a gracious neighborhood with interesting homes, many with open views of the surrounding cityscape.
Mount Davidson Manor is a quiet residential neighborhood, but it is close to the shopping, services, and dining opportunities that line Ocean Avenue, which is directly to the south. Residents can also take advantage of the shops and restaurants located in the nearby West Portal area as well as the Stonestown Galleria, which is located just a minute or two to the west. For commuters, both the Balboa Park BART station and Interstate-280 are within easy striking distance.
Most of the homes in Mount Davidson were built in the 1900s prior to World War II, and many feature the Mediterranean or Spanish Revival style so popular during that era. Single-family detached homes with one and two car garages dominate the real estate in Mount Davidson Manor. Many of the homes in the Mount Davidson Manor neighborhood are built on the hillsides and have sweeping views of the city lights to the south and the west.
