Kentfield is an established Marin County town that’s located just minutes from San Rafael, and only about 3 miles from Highway 101. Highly praised for being one of the more convenient places to call home in Marin County, Kentfield also has a rather scenic landscape as well given it’s position right at the base of Mt. Tamalpais. From certain points of town, you might also get to enjoy sweeping views of San Rafael Bay, which also helps make homes for sale in Kentfield a desirable option for many Marin County home buyers, but that’s really only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the attractive aspects this fabulous community has to offer.

Most homes for sale in Kentfield offer ample space and privacy, and in many instances are set far back from whatever roadway they happened to located along. In general, the large, wooded lots that tend to be so common all throughout the Kentfield area truly offer a pleasant country vibe that’s harder to capture in larger communities nearby like San Rafael, or even Larkspur or Corte Madera. But if you feel like Kentfield may be a great fit to one day call home, also keep in mind it’s one of the more expensive markets in Marin County, with single-family homes ranging anywhere from the mid to upper $800,000s all the way up to over $10 million for a mansion with a view.
Kentfield has a population of over 6,500 people today, but most of the area landscape is filled with residential development and very few amenities and attractions within the town’s boundaries. Situated on the south end of town is Baltimore Canyon Open Space Preserve, which has challenging yet fun hiking trails and awesome views of the bay front as you reach higher ground. Positioned along Magnolia Avenue and College Avenue, which essentially turn into the same street at one point, is a fairly pleasant mix of small retail shops, cafes, convenience stores, schools, and other small businesses that help give locals some area shopping and dining, but plenty of additional options are also just a short drive away, especially in San Rafael and Corte Madera.
