Like its near neighbor Glen Ellen, Kenwood is surrounded by the coastal foothills, vineyards and wineries, and several state and regional recreational areas - making it an ideal location for work and play. Fanning out in the nearby hills that surround Kenwood, Annadel and Sugarloaf Ridge State Parks and Hood Mountain Regional Park provide residents and visitors with hiking, equestrian, and bicycling trails.  Sugarloaf Park also has an observatory that offers stargazing parties and astronomy workshops to the public.  Other readily available activities in the Kenwood area include fishing and swimming in nearby Lake Ilsanjo and golf at any of the several public and private golf courses in the area.

Kenwood is a small community.  Homes in Kenwood have a rural feel, including those in the center of town.  The outlying lands often have homes surrounding by vineyards or hillside homes with stunning views of the countryside.   Many of the "in town" homes are the mid-century ranch style homes that were popular in the mid-twentieth century, while single-family homes on acreage and a few custom built estates can be found in the hills and valleys on the outskirts of Kenwood.

Kenwood, California Real Estate

No single style of home really typifies Kenwood real estate, nor does any price point.  While many properties are quite expensive - as would be expected by Kenwood's location in the center of Sonoma wine country - the occasional "bargain" can be found, particularly in the form of small acreage.  If you have a yearning to be a gentleman vintner, consider buying a home in Kenwood; or watch for a vineyard parcel for sale and build your own custom or prefab home.

Kenwood Homes for Sale

The city of Kenwood, California only has a population of around 1,000 people, so it certainly maintains the essence of a quaint small town. Situated up on Sonoma Valley’s northern end, Kenwood is specifically noted for its world famous wineries and vineyards, much like so many other cities and towns throughout Sonoma County. Kenwood’s unique location directly in between Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, Hood Mountain Regional Park, and Annadel Park also provide plenty of great hiking and mountain biking opportunities, and given it’s also only a 20 to 30 minute drive from Santa Rosa, home owners in Kenwood are also never too far from plenty of additional amenities like big box shopping or an ever broader selection of shopping and dining options.

Kenwood Real Estate

Despite being just a small town of just 1,000 residents, luxury single-family homes and sprawling vineyard estates help fill out this quiet community’s housing landscape, which might be somewhat surprising to many out-of-town buyers who aren't quite as familiar with the area. Kenwood’s central location in Sonoma County certainly helps contribute to its appeal and desirability, and its close proximity to Santa Rosa, the county seat of Sonoma County, also adds a little extra convenience to living here too. Some of Kenwood’s most expensive homes and estates have been known to reach eight figures, but most fall somewhere between the $1.5 to $2.5 million range.
