Jenner is a close-knit community with a small year-round population, although its numbers swell with passing tourists, particularly during the summer months, when Jenner's cool summertime temperatures provide a welcome relief from the heat found just a few miles inland.  Fishermen, beachcombers, hikers, kayakers, and picnickers enjoy hiking trails and the long stretches of sandy beach and rugged coast of the Sonoma Coast State Beach, which extends from Bodega Bay north through Jenner.  Also nearby, for history buffs, is the historic Russian fort compound at Fort Ross State Historic Park, located just a few miles north of Jenner.

With such a small population, it is no wonder that there are probably more vacation homes in Jenner than full-time residences, ranging from simple cabins to architect-designed custom homes.  Homes in the actual town of Jenner tend to be older, while newer custom-homes can be found on the hills surrounding Jenner; many offering spectacular ocean views, privacy, and every modern convenience imaginable.

Thanks to being perched up on a bluff where the Russian River flows into the Pacific, Jenner is specially noted for is stunning natural beauty and the spectacular views that are on display from a number of protected natural areas nearby, including Goat Rock State Beach - Sonoma State Park, Sonoma Coast State Park, and Russian River Vista Point. Most of Jenner’s amenities lie somewhere along Coast Highway, but outside of a cafe, small general store/market, a post office, and a kayak rental business, there isn’t much else to this laid-back, picturesque Sonoma County community.
