Hercules Real Estate Market

If you're looking for a laid-back vibe that still isn't too far off the beaten track when it comes to a desirable place to live in the East Bay, the small city of Hercules, California might be a good place to begin your new home search. Positioned right alongside the San Pablo Bay coastline, Hercules sits roughly 30 minutes from Richmond and only 10 miles north of Berkeley. Among other things, the city's waterfront certainly has an appealing quality to it in the eyes of most home buyers considering a move here from out of town, and all the new residential development on and around Railroad Avenue also makes it an appealing option for anyone who might be looking for a newer, more contemporary living space. Recent population statistics have about 25,000 people currently living in Hercules, but with plenty of new development and community amenities re-shaping the city as we know it, look for more and more people to be on the move to this part of Contra Costa County sooner rather than later.

The Hercules real estate market is broad, offering potential home buyers everything from attached condos and townhouse residences to single-family homes in just about every price range you'll commonly find in the East Bay. Hercules Community Amenities

Hercules is a city in the making; family-friendly with affordable homes, a pleasant climate, and a wide range of community activities for residents of all ages. The ultimate goal of city planners is to develop Hercules CA into a transit-oriented city of mixed-use neighborhoods. Bayfront development will eventually include a transit station that functions as a terminal for ferry, train, and bus services for residents of Hercules and the surrounding communities.

Although there is a small amount of light and high-tech industry in Hercules, it is primarily a residential city. The first subdivisions were built in 1975 and subsequent growth has been thoughtful. The waterfront area is an example of a design principal called New Urbanism, which offers modern living with a wide range of housing choices and urban convenience. Homes are varied in style and built with traditional architecture in mind; garages are out of sight, and vertical mixed-use units combine office space below and living quarters upstairs. The neighborhood is pedestrian friendly with shops, restaurants, businesses, and public transportation within walking distance.
