Fremont Homes & Real Estate

Welcome to your best Fremont real estate resource as well as all homes on the market in Alameda County. Fremont is a medium-sized Alameda County city that formed as a result of five area communities merging together, which included Centerville, Niles, Irvington, Mission San Jose, and Warm Springs. Originally named after American explorer John Charles Frémont, the city of Fremont is now where more than 230,000 people live, making it one of East Bay’s largest communities by both area and population. Officially, Fremont is now considered the fourth most populous city in the entire Bay Area region, and the largest suburb in the San Francisco-Oakland metro area. Both Interstate 880 and Interstate 680 travel through the Fremont community, making it a great place to consider for home buyers who commute up to Oakland, or even down around the bay over to Palo Alto or San Jose. Fremont Real Estate Market

Real estate in Fremont, California can be expensive, depending on the neighborhood. In 2009, the 94539 zip code, which includes Fremont’s Mission and Avalon areas, was placed on Forbes list of the 500 most expensive zip codes in the United States. Buyers don’t, however, need to have a couple million dollars hankering to be spent in order to buy a home in Fremont.

There are homes and condos for sale in Fremont, California that are obtainable for a more modest budget. Thanks to Fremont's close proximity to Silicon Valley, San Jose, Palo Alto, and even Oakland and San Francisco to some degree, the Fremont real estate market always seems to be active and trending upward. For home buyers looking for more of a relaxed suburban atmosphere, Fremont homes for sale offer exactly that in addition to a fairly quick and easy commute, regardless of where you work. And as one of the Bay Area’s largest suburbs, Fremont also presents buyers with a wide-range of options and opportunities that will no doubt meet the needs and wants of just about anyone looking for a new place to live in the East Bay.

Most of the residential neighborhoods in Fremont have a suburban feel, with well-kept, single-family homes on moderately sized lots. For the mid-century home enthusiast, several communities were built in the 1950s and ‘60s and are full of single-story, ranch-style homes. The majority of the homes in Fremont, however, were built in the 1970s through the 1990s and are contemporary homes in established neighborhoods.

Fremont Community Amenities

Although Fremont is widely considered a bedroom community of sorts, buyers will still find a variety of amenities and attractions in town that help make it a great place to live. Most of Fremont’s retail centers and shopping outlets lie in the city’s central district, especially along Paseo Padre Parkway and Fremont Boulevard. Central Park is also located here, which is an awesome lakeside park that features a golf course, four playgrounds, picnic areas, recreational trails, and even a place to rent a boat and do a little fishing.  Mission San José is also located in Fremont, which believe it or not is one of the oldest and most historic Spanish missions in all of California.

Fremont School Information

Fremont’s public school system is one of the best in Alameda County. Six elementary and middle schools in Fremont rank among the top ten schools in Alameda County. In addition, two of Fremont’s public high schools were included in Newsweek’s 2009 list of the 1500 top high schools in the U.S.; Mission San Jose High ranked 230 and Irvington High School ranked 383.

Below is a list of schools in the city of Fremont for buyers with school-aged children to consider:

  • Irvington High School - 41800 Blacow Road, Fremont, CA
  • Brookvale Elementary School - 3400 Nicolet Avenue, Fremont, CA
  • Ardenwood Elementary School - 33955 Emilia Lane, Fremont, CA
  • Joshua Chadbourne Elementary School - 801 Plymouth Avenue, Fremont, CA
  • Mission San Jose Elementary School - 43545 Bryant Street, Fremont, CA
  • John Gomes Elementary School - 555 Lemos Lane, Fremont, CA
  • John M. Horner Junior High School - 41365 Chapel Way, Fremont, CA
