Forest Hill Real Estate, San Francisco

Forest Hill is one of San Francisco’s most unique and gracious neighborhoods. Located just south of the Inner Sunset District and northeast of West Portal, Forest Hill is a community of architecturally significant homes set on quiet, lavishly landscaped streets, and has the distinction of being one of the least densely populated neighborhoods in San Francisco.

Forest Hill appeals to well-heeled residents who appreciate a San Francisco neighborhood that offers an old fashioned sense of community. The Forest Hill Clubhouse (designed by architect Bernard Maybeck in 1919) is the center of community activity, hosting a variety of events from scout and garden club meetings to an annual series of summertime musical concerts. Forest Hill is primarily residential, but shopping and services are not far away in neighboring West Portal or the Inner Sunset. Public transportation is handy and provides quick access to the Civic Center and Financial District as well as other San Francisco locations.

Homes in Forest Hill are some of the nicest in San Francisco and present an interesting mix of style and sensibility. Construction of Forest Hill began in 1912 and many residences reflect the classic styles popular during that era. The neighborhood also has a surprising mix of mid-century and contemporary styled homes, including dwellings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and Henry Hill.
