Within the boundaries of District 8 is everything visitors come to San Francisco to see: Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown, skyscrapers and cable cars, great shopping and world-class restaurants. District 8 is more, however, than a tourist attraction. It's a power center of corporate headquarters and financial institutions. It is a cultural center with theaters and the San Francisco Opera and Ballet. District 8 is also a governmental center, home to the Supreme Court of California, the Court of Appeals, and City Hall.

Residential real estate in District 8 ranges from quaint single-family homes in North Beach to upscale apartments and condos downtown. Russian Hill offers some of the most interesting housing options in the district with elegant homes and outstanding views from the top of the hill.
