Bodega Bay Real Estate

Just 70 scenic miles north of San Francisco via Highway 1, Bodega Bay CA is the portal to the rugged and picturesque Sonoma Coast.  The town of Bodega Bay, which is about a 40 minute drive west of Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park, lies along the edge of Bodega Harbor and was once a busy port and supply center for Russian fur traders in nearby Fort Ross. Today, tourism and fishing - both commercial and sport - have replaced shipping and fur trading as the economic cornerstone of the community.  Bodega Bay is also home to the Bodega Marine Laboratory run by the University of California.

Much of Bodega Bay's popularity has to do with its beautiful location and abundance of recreational opportunities.  Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round or two at the links-style course at the south end of town.  Heading north along the Coast Highway, the 8+ miles between Bodega Bay and Jenner is all Sonoma Coast State Beach property providing beach access, trails, and opportunities for surfing, kayaking, fishing, abalone diving, and exploring tide pools.

Homes in Bodega Bay are primarily detached single-family homes ranging from cozy cottages near the beach or with waterfront views to custom homes overlooking the fairways and greens of Bodega Harbour Golf Links.  The hillsides surrounding town feature some classic Sonoma ranches; and scattered throughout the area are lots for sale that are perfect for building a custom or pre-fab home.  The neighborhoods in Bodega Bay are a mix of homes used as weekend-getaways or vacation homes and permanent residences.

Bodega Bay, California Real Estate

Bodega Bay Homes for Sale

Bodega Bay is a picturesque fishing town that’s situated just off the scenic California coastline. Uniquely shielded from the unpredictable waters of the Pacific Ocean by both Bodega Harbour and Bodega Bay, the city of Bodega Bay is easily one of the more pleasant places to live along the waterfront in all of Sonoma County, if not in the entire Northern California region. Outdoor recreation plays a big role in the daily lifestyle of those who already call Bodega Bay home, which is largely made possible from all the parks, trails, golf courses, and scenic outlooks that help fill out the local landscape. Bodega Head is one of our favorite places to take in the scenery and do a little hiking, and The Links at Bodega Harbour golf course is truly one of the more enjoyable places in the area to spend a day out on the links.

Bodega Bay Real Estate

Unlike what you’ll find in so many smaller, unincorporated communities in Sonoma County, where the housing market is mainly limited to farm houses and ranch-style estates, Bodega Bay is a place that has something for just about any home buyer out there looking for a desirbale new place to live. From golf course homes and villas to waterfront retreats that offer up some of the best ocean views money can buy, the Bodega Bay real estate market rarely leaves potential home buyers wanting more. Smaller houses closer to the town center often start as low as $500,000, while homes with sprawling, unobstructed views of the ocean tend to bump up to the million threshold, and tend to go far beyond depending on land and square footage.

Amenities & Attractions in Bodega Bay

The Links at Bodega Harbour and Bodega Head are easily two of the city’s more recognizable attractions, but the list of fun places to visit in town doesn’t just stop there. Doran Regional Park is an excellent place to spend an afternoon out by the water, and there’s also no better place to spend a weekend than over at Bodega Dunes Campground, which is fun for even those who live in the Bodega Bay area full-time. Like most small towns, downtown Bodega Bay also features a few small restaurants, bars, and cafes, not to mention an elementary school, a couple small grocery stores, and various other small businesses that of course include a surf shop and even a pretty awesome kite store right off Bay Highway.
