Two Exceptional Book Events in San Rafael & Mill Valley on May 3rd

It may be coincidental but two "not-to-miss" book & art events are happening in Marin on May 3rd.  The first is California Bookstore Day Celebration at Copperfield's in San Rafael. The second event is the ninth annual Art of the Book exhibition at the Seager Gray Gallery in Mill Valley.

Located at 804 Fourth Street, Copperfield's is a new addition to downtown. If you haven't been there yet, go check it out on May 3rd. They have created a beautiful and inviting space for book lovers and have added a café run by Taylor Maid Coffee out of Sebastopol.  Besides a great selection of books, they have every magazine under the sun, greeting cards and home décor gift items. They will be celebrating California Bookstore Day with food and drinks and offering exclusive books and art that will only be available on May 3rd.

The Art of the Book at Seager Gray Gallery in Mill Valley

The first time I attended The Art of the Book exhibition at the Seager Gray Gallery, my neighbors Helen Stanley and Rodger Jacobsen were the featured artists.  It was an amazing show with so many ways to see books as a medium for art.  Since that time the show has grown and the Gallery has moved from San Rafael to 23 Sunnyside in Mill Valley. This year there will be 25 artists exhibiting from exquisite handmade artist books and altered books to even broader conceptual uses of books that explore form, content and physical presence.  The show will run through June 1st.  Don't miss it!
