Oakland's commercial and residential construction boom shows no signs of slowing down. The San Francisco Business Times reports that there are currently a total of 12 high-rise buildings slated for construction in Oakland! The two most recently proposed high-rise towers will result in a total of 334 new residential units and will be located at the intersection of 15th and Webster Street. The San Francisco Business Times reported this week that Oakland's massive Brooklyn Basin development on the estuary is set to start construction on it's first building this year, after almost a year of site clean-up and preparation.

This first building will consist of 241 rental units and will break ground later this year, with completion by late in 2018. This first building will consist of 7 stories and will be next to a new park, something that many Jack London Square residents have wanted for years.

More and more, everyone from top chefs to food blogs and Bay Area residents are raving about Oakland's popular and growing restaurant and bar scene.

This was once again recognized in a recent survey conducted by the real estate site Estately.

Oakland placed number one in the nation in four categories: Coffee, breakfast, Chinese, and food trucks. It also ranked in the Top 5 cities for Gluten free options, Halal, Japanese, Mexican, Soul Food, Thai, and Vegetarian, and was ranked higher than San Francisco in almost every category. Clearly, Oakland's well-known diversity has contributed to a wide range of amazing food options in the area. Many well-known chefs have been looking to Oakland for their new restaurants as San Francisco has become very cost prohibitive.

Oakland's latest housing project is well underway! A significant portion of the exterior framing has been completed on West Oakland's latest housing development know as The Station. The project is being built by the developer, City Ventures and will consist of 171, 2 and 3 bedroom townhouses that will be offered for sale, as well as 4,500 SF of retail space. This is the first major resdiential development in West Oakland since 2008 and proves to be just one of many new projects in Oakland's recent development boom. The units are being touted as all electric and solar powered and will bring much needed economic and residential vibrancy to this rapidly changing West Oakland neighborhood.
