I recently received a call from a young couple who was relocating their family to the Bay Area from Los Angeles due to a job transfer. They were under a time crunch because they were in the process of selling their current home and needed to make a contingent offer on a new home. After spending just two weekends in the car with in order to familiarize themselves with the various Marin neighborhoods, I had a pretty good idea of what they were looking and they had decided on a couple of areas that would be suitable both for their children's school but also for the daily commute to work.
It didn't take long for us to find this gorgeous 4BD/3BA, two story home with over 2500...
3 Reason Staging Your Home Pays off
- A staged home looks better in pictures
- Homes that are staged typically list for a higher price and sell for a higher price
- Potential buyers will stay longer during a showing
- A staged home looks better in pictures
The old saying, “One picture is worth a thousand words” might have been coined for a staged home. Multiply that 1,000 words by the number of pictures your agent is going to post online for your listing. That is a powerful pictorial message and a strong story presented online. Literally 1000’s of words conveyed by the pictures attached to your homes listing.
Why are...

A few weeks ago I had the honor of receiving an invite for
cocktails at a client's home! These are the moments that remind me why I love
what I do and moments that I treasure.Â
Â
A little back story...My clients met in San Francisco and
ended up on the East Coast for work not realizing it would take them 25 years
to get back home. When I met them they were planning for their retirement and
making good on their promise to themselves to return to Marin.
Their criteria included a home with 2-3 bedrooms in
Sausalito or Tiburon with views. They wanted some outdoor space but really
their top two desires were water views and to return to Tiburon (with Sausalito
in 2nd place). They didn't necessarily want a project but they...
I could not be more excited to represent the seller of this darling home.  There is so much to love about this 1920's vintage home in Tam Valley! Surrounded by a picket fence and an enchanting garden this property is just minutes down the hill to the hub and easy access to hwy 101. Great location for SF commuters! Beautiful floor plan with an open dining, living, den, half bath and galley kitchen on the main level. Downstairs is 3 bedrooms and 2 more bathrooms. Over 2200 sq ft of living space. The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet. Decks surrounding the back of the home offer peek-a-boo views of the bay. Dine al fresco on the sun drenched patio. Recent upgrades include a newly paved driveway, brand new windows on the main level, and a drip system for the new landscaping.  Many upgrades have been added over time but also vintage characteristics still in tact such as the original wood flooring and cozy fireplace. This comfortable feel of old world charm yet upgraded for today's living. Plenty...
687 Cedarberry San Rafael, CA
94903 - Has It's 2nd Owner
Â
687 Cedarberry in the Marinwood/Lower
Lucas Valley neighborhood is an original Eichler built in 1957 with all the
other Eichlers but this one is unique. My clients will be the second owner of
687 Cedarberry Lane in its 59 years in existence. During our inspections we
found this original letter from Eichler pinned to the wall in the garage.
Â
My clients were not familiar
with the Eichler homes or the cult like following they attract but after just a
few short...
2016 has proven to be an unusual year for the Marin real estate market. With the equity markets in turmoil over the exit of Britain from the EU (and the resignation of their Prime Minister), there will be a delay in U.S. interest rate hikes for the foreseeable future.
While that bodes well for our real estate market, the free fall of equities needs to be contained lest we see a fallout in real estate prices come this fall when bonuses are paid.
So many of our buyers rely on the benefit of their equity position for their down payment that Marin is likely to see a home price correction unless the international market corrects itself and fast.
Locally, we are certain to have continual expansion of tech companies and a continued inflow of top-level employees to our region. Thus, a need for homes and quality schools. All of which won’t change over the next year. Â
The demand for Marin housing has sustained positive levels of growth for over four years now. However, I anticipate flat or...
I was shocked to read in my newest Sunset
Magazine that they are relocating from their beautiful and iconic Menlo Park
headquarters of 60 years to Jack London Square in Oakland. It's been over 20 years since I visited the Sunset
campus in Menlo Park but I remember they had the most amazing and tranquil
setting, abundant and colorful test gardens, an innovative test kitchen, and
architecturally interesting and unique buildings. It was a very cool place and a place you
would dream of working.
Sunset 1951 - Menlo Park
As I read further, their move makes perfect
sense to me because it reflects what we are seeing in the real estate market
today. Urbanism is "in." Young people and empty nesters...
