San Rafael Christmas Houses | Mickey Mouse & Bears

Driving through the backroads of Marin, it's guaranteed that you will see houses decorated with holiday and Christmas lights. Luckily, you don't have to go far to see two very cool houses. They are both located in San Rafael!

A key feature about 417 Blackstone Drive is the fact that it's the Mickey Mouse Christmas House! Can't go wrong with Disney characters dressed in holiday garb. Children "ooh" and "awe" at the 200,000 outside lights, as well as the hundreds of stuffed Disney characters. This house is just full of holiday cheer and you can't help but smile when you walk up to the house. What's cool about the Mickey Mouse Christmas House this year is that the Mize family, and their very well-known house in Marinwood, will be featured on an ABC reality TV show called "The Great Christmas Light Fight." To sum it up, "The Great Christmas Light Fight" is a competitive reality show where 20 families across America decorate their homes to the extreme for Christmas. Of course, there's a prize at the end of the competition. The first episode of the series aired yesterday on ABC, but the Mize family and the Mickey Mouse Christmas House will be featured on December 23rd.

While not Disney character oriented, 383 Quietwood Drive is just as spectacular with all the Christmas bears that surround each window and the elaborate decorations. Operating for the last 33 years, the Nisja Christmas Bear house operates from December 1 till the 31st between 6pm and 9pm on weeknights and 6pm to 10pm on weekends. Another cool thing about the Nisja Christmas Bear house is that there are a lot of animations, surely keeping children intrigued. The bears come to life... there are hundreds and hundreds of lights... every child's face will light up with all the excitement around them. Not to mention, there is a Six G scale train that runs on a 300+ foot track. The bear blowing bubbles is a sight worth seeing, as well. Over the last 33 years, the Nisja Christmas Bear house has made children smile and, almost each year, new bears or attractions are added to the display.
