San Francisco - Fun October Events

"Am I still in San Francisco?" The thought that has popped into my head several times this week after stepping outside into this heat wave that makes me feel like I'm in a desert instead of the usually cold, windy and foggy climate of San Francisco.

"It's about time; I need to take advantage of this sun!" The very next though that comes to me, and boy did the sun pick a good week to grace its presents upon the pasty skinned people of San Francisco. Such events happening in The City this week include Fleet Week + America's Cup, Mill Valley Film Festival, Hardly Strictly Blue Grass Festival at Golden Gate Park and more!

Fleet Week + America's Cup (October 2 - 7)

With an event that is expected to bring nearly 1 million spectators this is surely something not to be missed. Imagine sitting on a sunny roof top deck in the Marina and looking into the sky to see the Blue Angels aerobatic team fly low over the Golden Gate Bridge, then look out into the water to see 11 of the World's best sailing crews share the bay with the Pacific Fleet of the Navy!

Mill Valley Film Festival (October 4-14)

Joining the likes of other famous International Film Festivals such as Cannes and Sun Dance, Mill Valley has started to gain some much deserved international credit. The 35th Annual Festival will be sure to highlight some talented local Bay Area film makers so go out and support some local talent.

Hardly Strictly Blue Grass Festival (October 5-7)

The 12th annual event with over 80 bands is sure to be a popular destination for many folks in Northern California. Oh and did I mention it's free! Even if you're not a big Blue Grass fan go out and walk around beautiful Golden Gate Park; enjoy this freakishly nice weather and listen to some rockin' live music, once again.... It's free!

And if for some reason none of these events seem to appeal to your taste, go out and enjoy some more live music or art galleries, check em out here. One thing's for certain though, get your butt outside and enjoy this sunshine TODAY because knowing San Francisco the fog could be rolling in before I'm done writing this blog. Enjoy!
