Oakland Events - Friday Nights @ OMCA

Looking for something new to do on Friday nights? Look no further than the Oakland Museum of California's "Friday Nights @ OMCA" event.

This event runs from 5 - 9 PM every Friday, is family-friendly and free! When I attended last weekend, the crowd was full of people of all ages. There's live music, dancing (and dance lessons!), and even a hands-on art workshop.

Roughly 15-20 food trucks are present as well, lined up on 8th Street, which is blocked off for the event. There is also a cash bar, featuring beer, wine, and a limited cocktail menu.

If you'd like to browse the latest museum exhibits, you can do that as well and admission is half price.

It's a great way to experience the phenomenal museum, our amazing East Bay weather (much of the event is outdoors), and to enjoy the great arts and culture we have here in Oakland. There's parking in nearby garages, but the easiest way to get there is to take BART to the Lake Merritt station, which is only one block away.
