Novato - A Community of Many Neighborhoods

When looking for a new home, do not overlook Novato. So many buyers have a pre-conceived notion of the town from observing retail such as Target and Costco while driving north on Hwy 101. Novato is so much more. At about 30 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, Novato is a community where residents love to live and traditionally - buyers can get so much more for their money.

 

Novato covers over 28 square miles with more than 56,000 residents, yet maintains a small-town charm. With a wide variety of neighborhoods from which to select, buyers should not overlook the many neighborhoods.

Hamilton is the site of the former air base that now boasts several newer developments and many amenities. Southgate, Bayside, Sunny Cove, Newport and Inspirations are a few of the unique neighborhoods, all somewhat newer as construction was started in the 90s.

 

Hamilton has acres of open space, parks and community amenities such as the South Novato Library, Dunphy Baseball Field, an amphitheater, YMCA facility, Skate Park and great trails.

The Marin Airporter is close at hand for convenient transportation to S.F. Airport and a Courtyard Marriott - perfect for out-of-town guests.

Looking for a more rural area, perhaps a farm or ranch for your horse. Indian Valley is a lovely region nestled to the west of Indian Valley College. Older-style ranches mix with more elaborate houses situated on large parcels - many not visible from the road. Meandering along Indian Valley Road is a country delight; it is hard to imagine an area so peaceful yet close to town.

There are eight elementary, two middle and two high schools in the Novato Unified School District plus a Charter School and independent and individualized programs.

                                                                                 

Novato is centrally located and the northern gateway to Napa and Sonoma Valley wineries, Point Reyes National Seashore, as well as some of California's finest state parks. Olompali State Historical Park is just north of Novato. It is named for a Miwok Indian settlement and was a hippie commune in the 1960s - a great mix of history.

If you like golf, it is good to know that there are three golf courses in Novato: Indian Valley Golf Club, Stone Tree Golf Club and Marin Country Club.
