Honda Smart House USA - Davis CA
Honda Smart Home USA! Honda what? Yes, Honda (the car manufacture) has teamed up with a local Davis Design Build firm, MAK Design Build an architect, contractor, lighting specialist and others to build a technologically advanced, sustainable and uber Green idea house in Davis, CA.
Â
The MAK Design Build Design Team, led by Anthony Anderson, supplied their expert interior design skills to the project. MAK was approached by Honda to work on this project in a design capacity only, which is a detour from their normal model, but the project sounded like a great opportunity to be a part of something new, different and special so they agreed.
MAK Design Build sourced the newest, most innovative materials for everything from cabinetry to flooring to a newly developed recessed integrated baseboard that is flush with the sheetrock. MAK's Director of Design, Anthony Anderson, developed this new technique.
Another ground breaking feature is the flush doorjambs. Anderson's vision for the project was to create a "clean, technical space unencumbered by unnecessary ornamentation" Anthony Anderson. Light, passive solar and indoor air quality (IAC) was also crucial in his choices and decision-making.
love the sleek, clean lines of the kitchen
In addition to the interior layout and design MAK also sourced all the furnishings and accessories down to the Solex Helena Flatware. Sleek, simple, modern were the driving factors for the overall look of the Honda Smart House.Â
The super high tech details and ultra modern, yet livable design highlights are endless. You will just have to go see it for yourself. Â And you're in luck...
The house will be a public Open House on Tuesday, March 25th from 12-4pm so you can check out the finished product and talk to the designers and project manager. They will also have open house hours on Saturdays. Dates and times TBD.
Honda has surprised us all with their foray into the sustainable, green design/build world. I personally can't wait to see the result of two years of hard work.
Look for my follow up blog with more pics after Tuesdays Open House!
