Bargain hunters and collectors, mark your calendars for this unique East Bay tradition! The White Elephant Sale is like a mega garage sale on steroids. With sale proceeds benefiting the Oakland Museum of California.
Held each year in a large Oakland warehouse, the sale is organized by departments and staffed with a legion of Oakland Museum Women's Board volunteers to assist with your purchases. There is even a shopping map!
Savvy shoppers hit the preview sale this Sunday, January 29th from 10am-4pm. Lines form at the entrance so it's best to arrive early and get a good spot. Preview sale tickets are available at the door or in advance at the Oakland Museum of California. Admission is free on the main sale dates of March 4-5. But a lot of the best items sell during the preview sale! Check out the White Elephant Sale website for ticket prices and more information.
Looking to simplify your life? Public donations make the White Elephant Sale possible. They accept donations year-round and even have van pickup service. This is a great way to support a local cultural institution, and clear some clutter from your home. Plus donations may be tax deductible. More information about making donations can be found here.
