2 West End Neighbors in San Rafael Team Up on Davidson Middle School Community Garden Project

West End neighbors, Helen Stanley and Lori Davis teamed up to create signs for the Davidson Middle School Garden Club. Built in 2005 by the San Rafael Harbor Rotary Club, P.E. teacher Leilani Siri started the Garden Club to teach kids where their food comes from and to promote healthy eating. Lori Davis, the Director of Environmental Education with LIFT-Levantate wrote a grant for $2500 to build an outdoor kitchen in the garden. Together Leilani, Lori and partners such as Kaiser, Whole Foods, San Rafael Harbor Rotary and others, have created an outstanding teaching opportunity for students and teachers at Davidson Middle School.

Back to the signs! Lori asked Helen whose Art Studio is near Davidson, if she would paint signs for the garden. Helen took the old wood Lori gave her and invited art students from Davidson to come to her studio. Together, they painted the cutest signs for the garden, a true labor of love.
