Marin or bust! It wasn't hard for my buyers to leave Tomball, TX but it was hard to say good-by to their labor of love, a Frank Lloyd Wright home they had restored over the past several years. When I first started working with John and Mike, they told me what they enjoy most is finding a home in need of love and transforming it, leaving it in better condition than they found it. In other words, adding value. They extend this same philosophy to their older pets that they have adopted.
We looked at many homes, mostly Eichlers in San Rafael, since the mid-century modern aesthetic is more their style. However, they were drawn to living in Mill Valley so at the last minute, even though the photos weren't appealing, we decided to go see 1077 W. California. It had been on the market for 3 months, unusual for Mill Valley at this price point. It's a good thing we did. It's the first time I saw John's eyes light up when he walked out on the deck and looked towards Muir Woods. That was all it took. We wrote an offer and the rest is history. Over the next 12 months, I expect to see John and Mike transform their 2 bedroom/1 bath home into a Restoration Hardware show place, where Mike is a Senior Designer.
