Bethel Island Homes For Sale

See the newest Bethel Island homes for sale and more real estate in Contra Costa County below. Once simply known as just Bethell—or Bethell Ranch, Bethel Tract, Sand Mound Ranch, or San Mound Tract—the city of Bethel Island is a small Contra Costa County town with a surprisingly robust real estate market for a community that has a population of just over 2,000 people. Thanks to its position along the San Joaquin River and the Franks Tract State Recreation Area, and of course because it’s an island, Bethel Island remains one of the more popular destinations in the East Bay for hunting and fishing, or for anyone who loves boating and other recreational sports and activities associated with water. And with Bethal Island also being a bit more isolated than many other Easy Bay cities and towns, it’s also a place that provides potential home buyers with plenty of peace and quiet in addition to its rather scenic riverfront location. Bethel Island Real Estate Market

Bethel Island is one of Contra Costa County’s more affordable communities from a housing standpoint, with most single-family residences averaging somewhere close to the mid $500,000s. In addition, you might also find a number of smaller cottage style homes with two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms that sit reasonably close to the town center, which are sometimes listed for just over $300,000. As a smaller community that’s somewhat remote, you won’t find many condos, townhouses, or attached residences, if any at all. But with the California Delta Highway reasonably close to town, home owners are still never too far from plenty of nearby amenities, still making homes for sale in Bethel Island an attractive option for anyone looking for a little peace and quiet.

With the only access to Bethel Island being by boat or via the two-lane bridge that links the island to the mainland, homes on Bethel Island are secluded and private. Many are waterfront properties with private docks. Others include acreage perfect for a farming or ranching lifestyle. Prices vary, depending on the property and amenities, but the cost of real estate on Bethel Island tends to be relatively modest when compared to many properties for sale in the East Bay.

Bethel Island Community Amenities

Bethel Island is an island community in northeastern Contra Costa County. Surrounded by the waterways of the Sacramento/San Joaquin River Delta, Bethel Island's nearest neighbors are Knightsen, Oakley, Antioch, Brentwood, and Discovery Bay. Further away, but still within a reasonable driving distance are Concord and Walnut Creek, Stockton, Tracy, and Sacramento.

Bethel Island may be one of the East Bay's more remote locations, but what it lacks in convenience it more than makes up for in recreational opportunity. A yacht club and golf course, along with miles and miles of Delta waters help make Bethel Island a wonderful place for the entire family to live and play. Fishing, golfing, swimming, boating, jet skiing, picnicking, and hiking are literally just outside the front door.
