Antioch Real Estate Market
Real estate in Antioch tends to be more affordable than in many other East Bay locations. Older homes are centered in the downtown area and feature a variety of architectural styles. Moving south, away from the city center, neighborhoods are newer and more expensive, with contemporary condominiums and single-family homes.
In many ways, Antioch feels like a typical suburban community, and the local real estate market here certainly reflects that. Traditional single-family homes in relatively recently developed subdivisions are common, and the upside for anyone thinking about making the move here is that homes for sale in Antioch won’t break the bank. Believe it or not, some fairly large, four- or five-bedroom homes in Antioch can regularly be found for just under $600,000, which certainly isn’t common for much of Northern California. Furthermore, the few condos and townhouses you’ll find here usually fall below $300,000. If you’re also looking for a smaller home, or maybe even something as a first-time home buyer, you might also see a fairly broad inventory of single-story ranch-style homes that usually start just over $300,000 as well.
Antioch Community Amenities
Antioch is a Contra Costa County suburb of the San Francisco – Oakland metropolitan area. Located along the banks of the San Joaquin/Sacramento River Delta, Antioch is just 37 miles northeast of Oakland. State Highway 4 is the main route through the city and connects this bedroom community to points east and west.
Antioch’s location along the Delta provides residents with ample recreational opportunities. Fishing, boating, swimming, and water-skiing are all popular pastimes. A municipal marina and several private marinas, boatyards, yacht and boating clubs, and a public fishing pier offer residents and visitors plenty of opportunities to enjoy the pleasures of the Delta. For those who want to play, but aren’t interested in fishing or boating, the City of Antioch has an extensive system of public parks and recreation areas that offer hiking, picnicking, and swimming. Antioch also has a water park, a skate park, wildlife preserves, and several nearby golf courses.
