I love being a Realtor because it embodies all of my passions and what I covet in my life. Creating and nurturing home, family, friends, community by helping and serving people with creative problem solving, negotiating and project management.
My focus is relocation and not just of your home but your life and family. Whether you are selling your home and buying a new one, buying your first home or moving across the bay or across the country I help my clients coordinate all aspects of the process.
My lifetime of local knowledge of Marin, San Francisco and surrounding counties allow me to help my clients choose which county/city/neighborhood best suits their lifestyle (even if it’s outside my service area).
I give my time generously to provide the information you need to understand the market and areas of interest to you. I offer an honest, straightforward viewpoint and believe that buying or selling a home is a process that is as unique as each person so I customize my service to my clients needs.
My motto is to end each transaction with a hug and client for life. My service extends beyond the close of escrow and I am always working towards creating the best possible experience that leads to future business and referrals.
Q&A with Cari Gennarelli, Marin County Realtor
How long have you called Marin County home?
I was born and raised in Marin County, leaving briefly to attend College, and then promptly returning. Marin is a magical place to live and work and while I could have lived anywhere I chose to come back to Marin. I currently live in San Francisco which gives me a broader prospective of the two symbiotic counties and how they support and benefit each other.
My family moved to Marin when I was born and remain there so I have very strong ties to the county and community.
How long have you been a Realtor in Marin County and what (real estate related) accomplishments are you most proud of?
I started my Real Estate Career during the crash of 2009 which turned out to be the perfect time to jump into a new career. It forced me to work hard to build my business from nothing. I brought with me 25 years of relative and supportive experience in customer service, project management, operations management, quality control and extensive negotiating. Over my years working with and building small companies I had to wear many hats and learned how to work with and communicate with people at all levels to get the job done.
I am most proud of my ability to keep transactions together by staying calm and focusing on creative problems solving with a team spirit. I offer my clients a dedicated and committed partner who always keeps their best interest in the forefront. My motto is, “It’s not about me, it’s about you”.
Sell us. Why Marin County?
Marin County all by itself has so much to offer – expansive open space, hiking, biking, running trails, accredited public schools, an eclectic selection of architecture, shopping, parks and European style town centers.
What makes Marin County one of the most desirable and coveted places to live in the country is it’s proximity to the surrounding counties. Living in Marin you are just a few miles to the gateway of culture and world class restaurants in San Francisco. A short drive to West Marin beaches, hiking, biking trails. An unparalleled coast line that you can follow for miles either north or south. The Sierra Nevada mountains and some of the best skiing in the country in Tahoe’s north and south shores and don’t forget the wine country. 4 of the most prolific wine regions in the world are a short drive away; Healdsburg/Anderson Valley and Dry Creek; Napa; Sonoma and Amador Counties.
All of this with the perfect weather. Warm summer days and nights and what many of my clients are drawn to - No Snow! Marin is truly an idyllic place to live and call home and I am so grateful that I am able to help others find there way to Marin.
Give it up. Where is your favorite secret (or not so secret) destination in Marin County?
Seven Falls is truly a magical destination. The trailhead is located off the road leading to Alpine Lake in Fairfax and is unmarked. My mom would regularly drag us there as kids in her attempt to get us out into nature. We would pack a lunch and hike the long and treacherous trail to the falls.
Disclosure: after hiking it again as an adult I realized it’s not all that far and only a little bit challenging. Mostly a lovely walk through the woods.
The path runs along streams, past meadows and through heavily wooded forests ending at a series of 7 waterfalls that culminates into a glistening pool of sparkling water. The surroundings are lush and wild and gives you the feeling of being in a secluded and remote location.
The falls reminds me of my mom, her free spirit and the magical gift she gave me of appreciating the expansive open space and natural wonders Marin County has to offer.
Complete this sentence: In my free time....
I enjoy the cultural offerings of San Francisco and the natural offerings of Marin County and the greater Bay Area. Eating oysters freshly plucked from Tomales Bay, walking the beaches at Stinson, Muir, Bolinas and Hearts Desire, Wine tasting in Sonoma and Napa Counties. Hiking the vast trails on Mt. Tam and Pt. Reyes Seashore, trying out the 100’s of world class restaurants in SF and enjoying an occasional live show. I truly enjoy cooking and entertaining and to balance it all out I fit in as much yoga as I have time for.

We loved working with Cari Gennarelli!
We loved working with Cari Gennarelli! She's extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable--she made us feel comfortable every step of the way in our home search, answering our many questions with ease and making us feel confident in her guiding our house buying process. We spent many months searching, particularly as we were getting to know the area; Cari gave generously of her time, getting to know us and our needs, and never once making us feel pressured. We ended up with a home that our family loves (an Eichler) and have Cari to thank. I'd highly recommend her.
Cari was fantastic in explaining the entire process and answering any questions we had.
After just one consult with Cari, my wife and I chose her to be our realtor in our search for our first home. We immediately felt comfortable with Cari's expertise in the Marin market and her willingness to work with us who where completely new to the home buying purchase. Our choice paid off big time. The first Sunday we went with Cari to see homes she had chosen for us, we found one we absolutely loved. The following week we put in an offer and it was accepted! We did not expect it to be so easy, as my sister just a few months before put in several offers on homes and didn't have one accepted until several months after her initial search.
Being our first home purchase, we were both excited and overwhelmed. Cari was fantastic in explaining the entire process and answering any questions we had. We cannot recommend her enough to anyone looking for a realtor who both knows what she is doing and is easy to work with.
Cari is a Marin native and knows every community backwards and forwards
While neither of us are big Yelpers, we can give Cari and Marin Modern nothing less than a 5 star rating! Cari was our real estate agent for the purchase of our first home. We decided to take the big leap and leave our little one bedroom condo in the marina in San Francisco for Marin County. Cari is a Marin native and knows every community backwards and forwards (She also knows San Francisco real estate inside and out). This was extremely helpful because as first time home buyers in Marin and dealing with everything else in life, we constantly shifted our hopes and desires, buying time frame and expectations and as we learned more about the various areas of Marin and the housing market.
Cari was extremely patient throughout the year-long + process and ultimately succeeded in helping us buy our dream home in the Bel Marin Keys on the water. This was not one of the areas we initially targeted in our search, but hey, good things come to those who wait. We had a couple of heartbreaks along the way as we learned what it takes in terms of getting an offer accepted in Marin but Cari helped us stay the course and everything turned out for the best. She seemed to be truly emotionally invested in our finding the right place for us and equally disappointed for us when our first 2 offers were rejected.
When we discovered Bel Marin Keys and did not have our first offer on a home there accepted, Cari went above and beyond and contacted every home owner in the neighborhood who lived in homes that we would be interested in buying, to determine whether anyone was or would be interested in selling even if they hadn't listed their home yet. Wow!
While truly positive and fun to be around when you're spending many hours driving around Marin and looking at properties, Cari was also direct and honest with us in what we could expect to find within our budget so as to manage our expectations and land a place that we could both love and afford. She also never pushed us to make an offer on something without our expressing a sincere and legitimate interest in it. The last thing you want in an agent is someone who puts even more pressure on you in what is already a stressful process.
Cari was always accessible and responded quickly to any questions or concerns that we had. Since we moved in, she has remained in contact and inquired frequently as to how everything is going which is definitely much appreciated as well.
We couldn't have asked for a better agent than Cari and highly recommend her to anyone seeking a real estate agent! Big Cheers to Cari!
She is a great person to work with - patient, thoughtful and comes from a place of integrity!
Yesterday marks our one year anniversary in the house that Cari helped us buy - and we still can't believe that this is ours!
We started working with Cari about a year before we bought; I had contacted her to help us find a home to rent. However, after looking at many rentals (and getting discouraged by what we were finding) we started talking about the possibility of buying. After several conversations about the pros and cons, we decided to move forward with securing a loan, etc.
Being somewhat naïve to this process (especially in the Bay area) Cari was great at talking us through each step. Never once did we feel pressured, and never once did we feel rushed into doing something that we didn't want to do. In fact, one of the things that I appreciated the most about Cari was the way that she asked us questions - so that we would get a better understanding about what was really important to us in finding that "perfect house".
It took several months of looking (and sometimes getting depressed by how expensive everything was getting), during which we had moments where we were tempted to go outside our budget. Thankfully, Cari reminded us about all the reasons why we didn't want to do this (she was our voice of reason on more than one occasion). She kept re-assuring us that the right house would come along, and we shouldn't get discouraged - and she was right! We found "our" house - and it is more than we could have possibly imagined! Best part of all was that we didn't get into any bidding wars, and the price fit well within our budget.
Whenever I hear someone talk about wanting to buy a house, I always refer them to Cari. She is a great person to work with - patient, thoughtful and comes from a place of integrity! I highly recommend her!
jumped through hoops and worked miracles to keep the deal on the table
We were buying a place near Point Reyes from a trust, and it got quite complex - there were multiple owners selling, they didn't live in the property, we had no real access to them - and we were going on vacation while the close was supposed to happen. For a variety of reasons, including inspections, the close couldn't happen on time, and we were in danger of losing our loan and the house -- one that we'd been looking for, for many years! In our absence (we were overseas), Cari Gennarelli, our Marin Modern agent, jumped through hoops and worked miracles to keep the deal on the table, hire contractors to fix things that had to be fixed, talked to the bank, the sellers, the agents, and everyone and anyone involved to keep it going. She hated having to tell us that the close hadn't happened when we got home, but she was also able to pull the whole thing to completion just a few weeks later, with the original (very favorable) loan and no negative changes to the deal. That's the kind of realtor you want working for you.
We would highly recommend her to friends and family
My husband and I were very pleased with the work of Cari Gennarelli at Marin Modern for her help with purchasing a commercial property in downtown San Rafael. The loan we got (an SBA loan) was tricky to navigate and deal with commercial real estate agents and lender issues, but Cari did her homework and provided us with all the information and bids we needed. Cari was responsive, available when we needed her, and very detail oriented when it came to nearly everything having to do with home/building purchases. We would highly recommend her to friends and family in the area.
Cari was not only a great agent, but became a friend who didn't sugar coat and made sure that our interests were protected.
My husband and I had an excellent experience with Cari of Marin Modern. We highly recommend her personally and the agency at large to anyone searching for their first home. These are agents that care that you are happy with your home, and their support doesn't end at the signing of the closing documents. Knowing that we had a small child and another baby on the way, Cari made an extra effort to search for properties that most closely could meet our needs and at the same time were within our budget. She was always willing to answer any questions we had and, if we wanted more information on a property, to do some research on our behalf. And she was great at telling us what improvements would add value to the homes we were considering and what would be detriments/have to be addressed before we would be able to sell. When we found what would ultimately be our first home purchase, she was supportive in walking us through the lengthy (and sometimes tedious and frustrating) process and truly listened to our concerns, even offering insightful suggestions on what inspection reports should be completed and recommendations on who to complete them rather than just looking someone without any references up in the phone book. Her network has proved invaluable in completing some of the fix-it tasks on our list. Cari was not only a great agent, but became a friend who didn't sugar coat and made sure that our interests were protected. We love our home, but if/when we are ready to move we'll be giving Cari another call.
I would highly recommend Cari and Marin Modern.
We recently worked with Cari Gennarelli to sell our condo in SF, and it couldn't have been a better experience. Cari had great insight when it came to prepping our place for pictures and the open house, was prompt and thorough in answering all of our questions -- and great at reassuring me when I became stressed or overwhelmed. We got a strong offer after just one open house and closed three weeks later, with very little work on our end. I would highly recommend Cari and Marin Modern.
